Kiedy ogłaszany jest alarm smogowy zachęcani jesteśmy do pozostawania w domach. Nasze mieszkania dają jednak tylko nieznaczną ochronę, powietrze przecież również do nich dopływa, a szkodliwych związków jest wewnątrz tylko odrobinę mniej. Co wobec tego możemy zrobić aby walczyć ze smogiem? Napewno potrzebne są regulacje dotyczące tego, co można w piecach spalać oraz egzekwowanie od mieszkańców wypełniania tych przepisów. Powinny być też ustalone standardy, jakiej jakości węgiel może być spalany w gospodarstwach domowych. Pomóc może również ograniczenie ruchu samochodowego np. poprzez wprowadzanie specjalnych stref zamkniętych dla samochodów starszych generacji. Konieczne są odpowiednie regulacje prawne, ale równie ważne jest nasze osobiste zaangażowanie i obywatelska postawa – dbajmy o to czym palimy swoich piecach i jak najczęściej korzystajmy z komunikacji zbiorowej.
